This past weekend a team of 87 swimmers (up from 54 qualifying last year) traveled to the NOVA June Age Group Championship meet in Irvine. The sun was strong, but NCA brought the heat! It was great to travel out of our LSC, race with prowess, and represent North Coast. We came home with a number of best times, new Sectional/JO/Far Western cuts, event winners, and plenty of lessons learned. Championship meets provide us great opportunities to come together for relays as well. Our 11-12 boys relays were a highlight of the weekend.  The team of A. Ladman, B. Ellis, L. Zhu, L. Brown broke the 200 Medley Relay SI record by over 3 seconds with a 2:05.06. This ranks them as the second fastest relay in the nation this year. In the 200 Free Relay, B. Ellis, L. Zhu, B. DiMaria, and L. Brown broke another SI record by over 3 seconds with a 1:52.51. This is currently fastest relay in the nation! And finally, the 400 Free Relay of B. Ellis, N. Parsons, L. Zhu, and L. Brown broke the SI record by over 6 seconds posting a time of 4:03.75, another #1 time in the nation!

Let’s not forget it is not only our teammates that make us better, but our competition as well. Thank you to everyone who cheered and supported our athletes this weekend.
