Our History

NCA Swim Has Built Strong Student-Athletes Since 1979

North Coast Aquatics has been a fixture in San Diego for nearly 40 years, serving swimmers of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re just starting or you’re taking things to the next level, NCA’s incredible staff and facilities will work with you to develop a practice that yields results.

We’ve come a long way since the days when NCA operated out of a community homeowner’s pool in Encinitas. Back then, our founder Jeff Pease was one of the first coaches in California to run his own program. Since 1979, he’s trained Olympic and National champions, more than 270 Junior National and Senior National swimmers, and sent more than 240 swimmers to major colleges across the country. With help from his top-notch coaching staff, Jeff has established NCA as the premier swim program in San Diego and one of the strongest in the United States, being awarded Gold and Silver Medal status with USA Swimming’s Club Excellence program since 2004. The club has been based in Carlsbad since 1982, and expanded to include a La Jolla location in 1992. We have more than 700 swimmers and 15 coaches serving the community.

By joining the NCA family, you’ll be sharing the pool with people who value an active lifestyle and believe in being part of a community. Some come once a week to stay in shape, while others are pushing themselves to achieve big dreams. We’re proud of all our swimmers and their accomplishments.

Throughout its growth spurts, NCA has always maximized the swimmer-to-coach ratio at all age groups, and has worked tirelessly to incorporate cutting-edge techniques on deck. Learn about the philosophy that has made NCA San Diego’s top swim club.
