2017 Speedo Sectionals Championship Success

I want to express my gratitude to all of you who helped make our 2017 Speedo Sectionals Championship that we hosted this past weekend a roaring success. It takes a village to run an event of this magnitude, and we pulled this off with flying colors.

The reviews from the visiting coaches and officials were over-the-top positive.  Many of the out of town teams were greatly impressed with Alga Norte Community Park, and one even said, “I feel like I am in Disneyland!”  The overwhelming consensus is they want to come back and encouraged us to submit a bid for next March’s meet, which we will do with confidence after witnessing our membership step it up all weekend.

I cannot praise Coach Kristyn Evans enough for the job she did as Meet Director.  Her leadership and poise throughout the weekend was awesome.  I am also thankful for the rest of my staff for all their help, but especially Coach Rob Mackle, who was there all weekend filling whatever need came up.  

I want to congratulate Coach Mickey Murad and Coach Michael Galindo along with all my senior coaches; you prepared our seniors well, delivering a Friday night finals session that was one of the best nights of swimming from our seniors in many years!  

I offer a special thank you to the Aquatics Supervisor Jeanette Gant and her staff at Alga Norte for being incredible “hosts” and providing us with a quality venue to showcase.   

To my hospitality committee and to all our volunteer parents and swimmers – you were awesome!  Seeing how many age-group parents and swimmers stepped up to help was incredible. Thank you so much!

One of my roles is to provide inspirational moments for our NCA swimmers, and this past weekend was packed with those as our younger NCA swimmers cheered for their senior teammates and left the meet excited to fill their shoes some day.  Nothing is more inspiring to me as a coach than that!

This past year has been filled with NCA milestones.  I am proud to say that this past weekend was one of the finest moments in the history of our program.
